Most fare searches start with a destination, which is backwards if what you actually want is to go somewhere cheaply. CheapOair's geo-based view inverts it: it detects your location and surfaces the routes that are genuinely cheap from your nearest airports, letting the destination emerge from the pricing rather than the other way round. This is how people end up taking a weekend somewhere they had not thought about, for less than the fare to the city they had in mind.
