PetPlate buying guide
What PetPlate costs
Price depends on your dog. PetPlate sets each plan by your dog's age, weight, activity and other details, so a large dog on a full plan costs much more than a small one. Shipping to the 48 contiguous states is free.
PetPlate's help center (in an article last updated April 2025) gives these starting prices for the smallest dogs: FreshCooked Full Plan from $3.79 a day (a 160-calorie plan), FreshCombo from $2.80 a day and FreshBaked from $1.57 a day. On October 7, 2026, the homepage showed lower figures after the intro discount: FreshCooked Full from $1.89 a day, FreshCooked Toppers (about 25% of calories) from $0.71 a day, FreshCombo from $1.40 a day and FreshBaked from $0.79 a day. The help-center prices are about double the homepage ones, which fits a 50% intro discount, so budget for the higher rate once the intro period ends. PetPlate's pages do not state how many orders the intro rate covers.
Plans are billed weekly, every two weeks or monthly, depending on your plan. PetPlate charges your card on the Friday before each shipment and emails a reminder the Monday before.
How to claim a PetPlate offer
New customers get PetPlate's intro discount automatically. On October 7, 2026, the site banner read "Get 50% off + free treats today" and said the discount would be applied at checkout without a code. A friend's referral link also gives 50% off the first two boxes. Existing customers add codes on the My Account page, under the plan's cost breakdown, any time before the Friday charge.
Watch the timing after you sign up. Changes must be made by Thursday. The card is charged Friday, and once an order is charged it ships even if you cancel. If you only want to try PetPlate, PetPlate's own help center suggests starting with a Topper plan and rescheduling or cancelling your next order before it is charged. Food cannot be returned. The money-back guarantee covers your first order in each product category, less shipping, if you ask between day 7 and day 30 of feeding.
When PetPlate runs its best deals
PetPlate's main offer is its standing new-customer discount, shown as a site-wide banner. On October 7, 2026 it was 50% off plus free treats. Referral links give a new customer 50% off the first two boxes and give the referrer 5,000 PupPoints.
Existing customers earn 1 PupPoint per $1 spent and can redeem 250 points for $5 off, 500 for $10 off, or 2,500 for $50 off a future box. Points expire 12 months after they are earned. PetPlate's site does not show a fixed seasonal sale calendar.
Is PetPlate worth it?
PetPlate suits owners who want pre-portioned, human-grade fresh food and have freezer space for a week or more of containers. There are five FreshCooked recipes, and PetPlate labels its lamb and venison entrées as novel proteins. Topper and FreshBaked plans cost less and give a way in for owners who don't want to switch fully.
It is a poor fit if you need flexible ordering. You cannot change your shipping frequency or the number of meals yourself, the charge comes several days before delivery, and food cannot be returned. Full fresh-cooked plans for large dogs get expensive once the intro discount ends, so price your dog's plan at the regular rate before you commit. PetPlate does not ship subscriptions to Alaska, Hawaii or outside the U.S.
About PetPlate offers
All PetPlate meals are made with USDA meat, fresh fruits & veggies, and a proprietary supplement blend. These meals are designed by a veterinary nutritionist for optimal nutrition and cooked by a team of talented chefs for a taste that dogs love.
PetPlate is a dog food subscription. You answer questions about your dog (age, weight, activity and more), and PetPlate builds a plan sized to its daily calories. Plans use FreshCooked entrées, which ship frozen in pre-portioned containers, FreshBaked clusters, which are shelf stable, or a 50/50 mix of the two. Meals are made with human-grade ingredients to AAFCO standards, and orders renew automatically on a set schedule.
Most of the savings come from PetPlate's own new-customer discount, which is applied automatically at checkout, and from referral links and PetPerks loyalty points after that. The offers listed here come from PetPlate's affiliate feed and are re-checked against it daily. Check what your plan costs at full price before you sign up, because the intro rate does not last.
